SOLRITE Battery VPA · Connecticut

Solar got you halfway.
The battery gets you
the rest.

  • Real independence. Solar covers your daytime. The battery gets you through the night, the next nor'easter, and the next grid event.
  • A real Virtual Power Plant. Your battery quietly helps steady the New England grid against winter storm stress and peak demand. Be part of the fix, not the bill.
  • $0 upfront. 15 to 40 kWh Duracell battery, install, monitoring, 20 years of maintenance and replacement. Grid services revenue funds the equipment, you don't.

Why most Connecticut solar owners are adding a battery

You went solar for a reason.

Maybe it was independence. Maybe it was wanting cleaner power for your home. Maybe it was watching your bill climb anyway while you sat there with sun on your roof and felt like the math should be better than this. Whatever brought you to solar, the panels alone are only half the answer.

Without storage, the grid still runs your home every night, and your daytime exports still flow back to the same grid you were trying to step away from. The battery closes the loop. Solar runs your home through the evening on your own power. When the next nor'easter knocks the lines down, your lights stay on. You stop buying back energy you already paid to make.

Battery VPA works.

You don't buy the battery

SOLRITE owns the Duracell equipment. You pay nothing upfront. No loan, no balloon payment, no $30,000 invoice for hardware that will need replacing in 10 years.

Grid services pay for it

Your Duracell battery participates in a real Virtual Power Plant, supplying dispatches, frequency response, and other grid services. That revenue covers the equipment cost. Your Eversource or UI plan stays your plan. The program does not change your retail rate or your existing net metering arrangement.

You get backup + protection

Backup power for nor'easters, ice storms, and the next outage. For legacy net metering customers, the battery insures against ever losing your grandfathered arrangement. For customers on the state's current program, every kWh self-consumed from the battery avoids exporting at the lower program rate. SOLRITE covers all maintenance and any battery replacement during the 20-year agreement.

A note on what the battery saves you

The dollar value depends on when you went solar.

If you enrolled before Connecticut closed traditional net metering, you are on a legacy one-to-one arrangement, and the battery does not change that. For you the battery is about backup power, insurance if you ever have to move off your legacy terms, and real grid contribution through the VPP.

If you went solar more recently, you are on the state's current Residential Renewable Energy Solutions program, and the battery earns its keep on savings too. Exported solar earns only the program credit rate. The battery captures your excess solar instead, so your home runs on stored solar in the evening at full retail equivalent, and the gap between the export credit and your retail rate is what you keep.

Either way, backup, independence, and grid participation are the same, the Duracell battery participates in a real Virtual Power Plant, and the grid services revenue is what covers the equipment. That is why there is nothing for you to pay upfront, regardless of when you went solar.

Why a VPA, not a loan

The math is simpler. The risk is smaller.

Most home batteries cost $20,000 to $40,000 outright. Financing rolls that into a 10-year solar loan, plus interest. Lithium batteries typically last around 10 years in good conditions, meaning a buy-it-yourself system often hits a replacement bill before it is paid off.

With the SOLRITE Battery VPA, none of that is your problem. SOLRITE owns the Duracell equipment. If anything fails during the 20-year agreement, we replace it. You get the backup power and the rescued solar value, without ever taking on the financial risk of owning the hardware.
