sonnen has been building residential storage in Bavaria since 2010, eleven product generations before most U.S. competitors had a single one. The Battery 11 carries that lineage: lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells chosen for thermal stability and cycle life, an integrated battery management system tuned for daily deep cycling, and a control stack that was built for virtual power plant participation from day one rather than bolted on after launch.
That matters because a SOLRITE battery isn't sitting idle. It charges from your solar, discharges during evening peak, and quietly contributes to grid services in the background, year after year. sonnen's chemistry and software are engineered for exactly that workload.

actually works in your home.
Charges from your solar daily
Through the morning and afternoon, your rooftop solar generates more than your home is using. Instead of pushing that surplus to the grid for nothing, the sonnen battery captures it, full by mid-afternoon on a typical sunny day.
Discharges during peak & outages
When the sun drops and rates climb, your home pulls from the battery instead of the grid. When the grid drops entirely, ERCOT freeze, hurricane, planned shutoff, the sonnen switches to backup in a few seconds. Lights, fridge, internet stay on.
Participates in the VPP
During normal operation, your sonnen contributes a small share of its capacity to grid services through the Virtual Power Plant. The grid gets a more reliable resource. You get a battery that helps fund itself, with no impact on your backup reserve.

Wall-mount, weather-rated, quiet by design.
The sonnen Battery 11 is rated NEMA 3R / IP65, suitable for outdoor wall-mount in Texas heat, Massachusetts winters, and the kind of weather both states throw at a home. Operating range runs from -10°C to 50°C, so the battery keeps cycling through summer afternoons and freeze events alike.
Indoor garage installation is also supported. Your SOLRITE site survey confirms the exact placement, conduit run, and electrical interconnect for your home, before a single bracket is hung.
